April Campaign Update
I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend and got a chance to enjoy some sunshine with family and friends. I spent Good Friday with family and Saturday returning phone calls from supporters. I took the rest of the weekend off to spend time with my family and reflect on the issues residents most spoke about. I heard much about the importance of the Alberta energy industry and the jobs it provides for residents as well as the quality of life it enables us to enjoy. We are being unfairly targeted by well funded, special interest groups who ignore the technology and innovation intensive contributions that the development of Alberta's natural resources makes to our daily lives.
I also heard about the serious need for more, and better, road infrastructure. The completion of the ring road, improvements to 52 Street and Glenmore Trail will get folks moving again in southeast Calgary and the federal government can play a role in ensuring that Calgary, the centre of Western Canada’s booming economy, keeps getting the dollars it needs to make it happen.
When I am out meeting residents, supporters and new members, a question I am often asked is :
What can I do to help you Tom?
Well, the number one way to show your support is to buy a membership and vote in the Conservative nomination for Calgary Shepard. These are the requirements needed in order to vote in the upcoming Conservative election for Calgary Shepard:
- Valid federal Conservative Party of Canada membership – to get yours click here
- Must be a resident of the Calgary Shepard constituency – check out the map
- Be minimum 14 years-old
- A Canadian citizen or permanent resident
Another way you can help is volunteer. I am always looking for passionate people that want to get involved and make their community a better place – and I wouldn’t be where I am now without my amazing team of volunteers. You can also help out by spreading the message about why I'm running for the nomination to friends and family who live in the communities of Calgary Shepard.
Many Calgary ridings have already completed their conservative nominations and have nominated Michelle Rempel, Ron Liepert, Devinder Shory, Joan Crockatt, and Deepak Obhrai, to be their conservative candidates in the next election. We expect Calgary Shepard’s nomination to open over the summer. We will keep you posted with information as soon as we know more.
